Description

Now this is a sight to please the heavy-limbeded! It looks like the most comfortable armchair ever designed. You cannot help but sit down on it for a moment. As you lie back with a sigh a couple of mechanical tendrils emerge out of the upholstery and strap you firmly in place. A crooning voice tells you, "You will relax. Resistance is futile!"

What makes the whole experience even scarier is the fact that several electrodes are writhing towards you and worming their way into rather intimate parts of your anatomy - such as your nostril.

Now the whole chair starts to rumble ominously (albeit not unpleasantly) and along with some supposedly soothing music which reminds you of the stuff usually played in elevators the voice says, "You are not relaxed. Dang.. I think I need to work some more on my prototype."

A rather nice-looking student in a labcoat frees you from the straps and apologises for the inconvenience.

You jump out of the chair, glad to be able to stumble on, but you do feel cool for having survived a scientific experiment.

(When green DQS security keycard is dropped) As you get up from the chair, you notice a small green piece of plastic poking out from between the chair cushions. You quickly grab it and stuff it in your backpack.

  • The phrase "You will relax. Resistance is futile!" is a reference to the TV show Star Trek. One of the alien species, the Borg, attacks its enemies with the line "You will be assimilated, resistance is futile!"
