Resetting

Once you have completed all the available tasks, you can choose to start the game over from the beginning using the button below.

Before you do, though, please make sure you read the following FAQ.

Q: Huh?

A: Until we complete the full game story line, which is going to take some time, there's no narratively plausible way to let people start again, but in order to fully test everything, and hopefully provide everyone with something to do other than mining or power-levelling, we've provided a handy-dandy reset function, which will let you go back and do everything again. If that's the kind of thing you enjoy.

Q: So, what will happen?

A: Basically, all your equipped equipment and installed devices will be moved to your backpack, your character will be reset to level 1, all your proficiences will go back to defaults, and all tasks will be reset. Everything else stays the same for now.

Q: Wait, my character gets reset to level 1?

A: Yes, but we keep complete records of all your previous achievements, so nothing you've done so far will be forgotten.

Q: Ok, will I lose anything?

A: Apart from a handful of special items, that aren't storable or tradeable anyway, absolutely not. All your historical data, leaderboards, items, mail etc. will stay exactly as they are.

Q: Will I be able to access all my stuff after I reset?

A: For now, yes. We're thinking about creative ways to change this though, so you can expect it to change at some stage.

Q: What about any stats/turns/HP/TP etc I have currently?

A: Those belong to your current run, and will be kept with it for historical (or hysterical) purposes. Your new run will start with its own information.

Q: Are there any leaderboards for this?

Some, yes, with more to come. We just need to work out a way to make it fair for everyone.

Q: If I continue, can I change my mind?

A: No. If you're not absolutely sure you want to do this, then don't do it. Talk to people in chat if you'd like further information. Let's Do This Thing

Notes

When visiting the Noobology Department after resetting the first time, this comes up:

After consulting a fairly complicated map, asking 7 different people for directions, and getting yourself lost 3 times, you finally discover a plain looking door with "Department of Cultural Sciences" printed on it.

You notice that the words "Cultural Sciences" have been crossed out and "Noobology" written underneath in purple magic marker. This should be interesting.

You knock politely on the door (manners always were your strong point) and wait. And wait. And wait. You get tired of waiting and open the door.

The room appears to be quite cluttered, and it takes a while for you to notice that part of the clutter is in fact a fairly strange looking, dishevelled old guy, sitting at a desk in amongst an unstable-looking stack of papers and beaming at you. Creepy.

"Ahhhhh, hello there young... person! My name is Professor B. Ginner von Noob. Welcome to the Department of Noobology!"

"Ah! Welcome back, <PLAYERNAME>!" exclaims the Professor, "It's good to see you again!"

"Back? Wait, what..."

"If you remember," he continues, "the last time you were here, I asked you to undertake a series of simple, and somewhat boring, tasks to help you familiarise yourself with... well, with things."

"Ummm, well, I'm not really..."

"Good, good. Well, you should be pretty familiar with everything now, so I don't think there's any need for that. How about I just give you some stuff and send you on your way?"

"..."

"Excellent, here you are then. Good luck!"

Before you have a chance to ask any questions, the Professor has handed you a number of items and bundled you out the door, closing it firmly behind you.

Great. Looks like you're on your own!
