Paradox chat has many channels, or rooms, in which to talk to other players. Some of these channels are tailored to general topics while others are designed for specific chat topics. Get to know the channel you are chatting in. Here are the current, known channels in the game:
Public Channels
/lobby
This is the introductory/newbie channel in Paradox. General chat is allowed, but this channel exists primarily to help new players with game questions and to get acclimated to chat.
This channel is moderated and open to everyone.
/games
This is where you can host games or giveaways. Games related chat can also take place in here.
This channel is moderated and open to everyone.
/trade
This is where you can sell, buy, bid, auction, or advertise sales in your store.
This channel is moderated and open to everyone.
/social
This is for general social chat that does not fall into categories covered by any other channel.
This channel is moderated and open to everyone.
/tech
This is for discussions on technical/technology topics/issues.
This channel is moderated and open to everyone.
/spoiler
This is where you can talk openly about the game and new content.
This channel is moderated and open to everyone.
/radio
This is where you can talk about radio specific stuff.
This channel is moderated and open to everyone.
Restricted Channels
/wiki
This is where the wiki team discusses wiki related topics and issues.
This channel is only open to the wiki team, and some Mods and Dev members.
/mod
This where chat Moderators (Mods) discuss things related to chat moderation, eg. users, banning, punishment, warnings etc.
This channel is open to Mods and Devs only.
/dev
This is where the developers discuss anything related to the development of Paradox.
This channel is only open to the devs.
Removed Channels
/mensroom
This where men to talk each other about men stuff and other things! This channel doesn't exist for now.
/ladiesroom
This is where ladies talk about ladies stuff and other stuff! This channel doesn't exist for now.
/joey
As a joke, on the 31st May 2009 EL_JoEy (#1143) was given his own chat channel for a short time by Gobberwart (#1) as he had been joking about one for a long time. It was removed on 4th of June.
/flamewars
This where you can actually flame anyone and won't get banned!
This channel is moderated and open to everyone.
Notes
- There are rumored to be other chat channels in existence, but they are private, invitation-only channels and don't appear anywhere unless you have access to them. These channels' names are unknown, although one is reputedly called "gazebo".
- /mensroom and /ladiesroom only existed for a day or so, shortly after public alpha launch and were removed due to enforcement and implementation issues.
- Performing a whois on Gobberwart once revealed he was in channel RESTRICTED. This confirms rumors of private channels.
