Text Effects

When typing in chat, bold and italic effects may be used for emphasis.

bold

Surround characters you want to appear in bold with a pair of asterisks

Usage: *TEXT*

Example: here is some *text* with a *bold* effect

Result: here is some text with a bold effect

italics

Surround characters you want to appear in italic with a pair braces

Usage: {TEXT}

Example: here is some {text} with an {italic} effect

Result: here is some text with an italic effect

linking to player

Usage: (#1)

Example: Gobberwart (#1) is a dev

Result: Gobberwart #1 is a dev

Note: If you actually WANT to display multiple asterisks or braces in chat rather than have your text converted to bold and/or italic, care must be taken to ensure the characters are retained, although... you should probably consider whether that's something you REALLY need first.

Emoticons

Here is a list of emoticons that can be used in the chat pane. You can turn the display of chat emotes on and off by changing the setting in your account options.
