This are all the messages you get when you try to do something you really can't do.

Messages

  • Trying to buy something from yourself:
    • You can't buy stuff from yourself. What a preposterous hypothesis! Did Steve tell you you could do that?
  • Trying to over drink:
    • Drinking that would be a bad idea. Your bladder might go pop!

    • You can't fit that into your stomach.
  • Trying to use a device when your out of Technology Points (TP):
    • You don't have enough Technology Points to use this device!

    • You need to select an item to buy first!
  • Buying something you can't afford:
    • You can't afford that.
  • Buying zero or nothing of something in a NPC store:
    • You need to tell me how many you'd like to buy!
  • Buying negative zero of something in a NPC store:
    • Don't be silly. You can't buy zero of something. Well, you can, but what's the point?
  • Buying negative one or lower of something in a NPC store:
    • How can you possibly buy a negative number of something?
  • Trying to generate more than three random jokes per day:
    • Despite much fiddling on your behalf, the device stubbornly refuses to do anything. Perhaps it's had enough for one day?
  • Trying to watch a movie with less than 2 turns:
    • It takes 2 turns to watch a movie. You're going to need to come back another time.
  • Trying to use a holographic pair o' dice when you've gotten snake eyes:
    • You open up the device, but instead of the usual pair o' dice showing, say, a seven or eleven, you see a pair o' evil looking red snake eyes watching you. Looks like you need to wait until later before you can use this again.
  • Making a trade offer with yourself:
    • Offer Not Sent: Trading with yourself is just asking for trouble!
  • Trying to change your age above 120:
    • The value supplied for "Age" is invalid!
  • Trying to change your name:
    • Supplied player name does not match. You can only change the CASE of your name, not the name itself.
  • Trying to send a gift from Florist Gump to an invalid recipient:
    • Your gift could not be delivered because the recipient doesn't exist.
  • Trying to send a gift from Florist Gump to yourself:
    • You want to send a gift to yourself? Come on now, why don't I just give you a hug instead?
  • Trying to send a gift from Florist Gump without a delivery method:
    • Your gift could not be delivered because you didn't select a valid delivery method.

  • Trying to (dis)respect yourself (via URL injection):
    • You can't change your opinion about yourself. Well you can but nobody wants to hear it.
  • Loading an outfit without actually selecting one:
    • You need to select an outfit first!
  • Inputting a non-numerical value in "Use multiple":
    • That's not very sensible now is it?
  • Trying to combine more than 20 items at once:
    • You specified too many ingredients! Maximum is 20, you specified <number>.
  • Trying to watch HorrorVision with insufficient funds:
    • It costs 150 moolah to experience HorrorVision. You're going to need to come back another time.
  • Trying to watch HorrorVision while wearing X-D glasses but with insufficient turns:

  • Trying to send a message or trade offer to a player with a disabled account:
    • Message Not Sent: The specified recipient's account is disabled.

References

  • Did Steve tell you could do that is probably a reference to the Flight of the Conchords song Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros[1]

It could also be a possible reference to Steve Sawyer who told every one about hope and everything was possible.

  • "Oh no you Di'n't became response to a bold statement, accusation, or action; slang for "you're going to wish you hadn't said/done that,"
